JOB OVERVIEW
Be actively involved in the husbandry (cleaning/feeding) of the resident raptors, reptiles, feeder colonies as well as rehabilitating wildlife. Participate in our Blanding’s turtle and smooth green snake head-starting projects as well as the bluebird trail monitoring program. Contribute to environmental education programs and the development of program materials/wildlife artifacts. Enhance your communication and customer service skills in responding to wildlife related inquiries from the public.
This is a 40 hour per week position including weekends and lasts for 12 weeks. Applicant should be working towards a Bachelor’s degree or a beginning professional in biology, environmental education, or a related field or possess equivalent experience. Starts mid/late May, ends mid/late August.
You must have a current, valid driver’s license and complete a pre-employment drug screening. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., walk up and down stairs, and work outside in the heat and rain with biting invertebrates. Any animal handling experience is a plus.
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: If you need to obtain college credits through an internship program, we are open to discussing the criteria needed to determine if we have the resources to fulfill those needs.
