Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center is a fully equipped hospital for wildlife located in Iron Station, North Carolina. We service the NC wildlife taking in 2,000 wild mammals and reptiles a year. We specialize in trauma and have anesthesia, surgery, autoclave, radiograph, oxygen, pulse ox, endoscope, bare-hugger and so much more. We are dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of wildlife in our community. Our organization is committed to providing quality care and support to injured and orphaned animals, while also educating the public about wildlife preservation.

Role Description

This is an on-site contract role for a Veterinarian at Carolina Wildlife Conservation Center. The Veterinarian will be responsible for providing veterinary care to wildlife patients, including medical examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries. They will also collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement wildlife rehabilitation plans and track the health and progress of animals under their care. The Veterinarian will play a key role in ensuring the well-being and successful release of wildlife back into their natural habitats. They will maintain drug records, drug ordering, medical protocols, perform surgeries.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • State licensure as a Veterinarian
  • Experience in wildlife medicine and rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations related to wildlife conservation
  • Proficiency in medical examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries for wildlife
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Passion for wildlife conservation and education
