DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision and guidance of the Director , Linguistic, Conference and Common Services (D/LCC), the Engineer will apply professional engineering knowledge and expertise in performance of the following duties:
(a) Applies commonly used engineering skills, calculations, practices and precedents in completing portions of larger projects related to the planning, design, construction, repair or maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering infrastructure for major systems and facilities;
(b) Plans and designs specifications for building maintenance and renovation projects;
(c) Evaluates, reviews and revises project documents and technical proposals for construction services, electro, mechanical, and engineering goods/services, and conducts pre-award inspections and other project management activities;
(d) Acts as project Engineer for building works and oversees the work of contractors to ensure that it is full compliance with the agreed scope of works and is satisfactory from and engineering and technical perspective;
(e) Develops scope of works/requirements, specifications for civil, , and engineering goods/service and propose improvements and upgrades of the existing equipment.
(f) Analyzes project proposals to ensure technical feasibility and to ensure that project objectives are attainable within prescribed resources;
(g) Conducts investigations to develop improved designs and construction techniques;
(h) Provides expert technical engineering input to procurement process related to building works contracts, acts as a member of the Technical Evaluation Committee for such contracts. Assist the Contracts Management Officer in monitoring the performance of the contracts/LTAs once awarded;
(i) Conducts research on development of new technical systems, and follow development to identify improved methods and equipment;
(j) Coordinate technically the work of external contractor’s personnel;
(k) Carry out other relevant duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Master’s degree or equivalent in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering. A first level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience will be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the areas of planning, designing and supervising engineering-related construction and renovation projects (including for large design construction projects and facilities maintenance programs), and managing routine and non-routine maintenance and repairs is required.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English and French (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.

SALARY AND ALLOWANCES
Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 70212
Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 56872 (in addition to the net base salary) Additional Information:
