About the Scholarship
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate to undertake a PhD within Swinburne’s Department of Aviation which has over 30 years track record of offering high-quality teaching and research in flight training, safety, human factors, and aviation management.  

Drone delivery is set to become an integral part of the logistics industry and the potential market for drone-based delivery services in Australia is projected to increase significantly over the coming years. This position offers an opportunity to lead an air transport research project focused on drone delivery services.

Research may include but is not limited to the problems below:

  • The development of a robust cargo drone network
  • Factors influencing operational risks of drone delivery.
  • Performance analysis of drone delivery services in the network (for example, bottleneck, areas for optimization, and potential improvements in efficiency and reliability)
  • Existing and future drone technologies have already been on trial or under development by operators and manufacturers around the world.
  • Digital twining of the drone delivery network services

About you 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Research master’s degree in Computer Science, Operation Research, Transportation Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with transport modelling, real-time spatial data processing, analytics, and optimization techniques.
  • Self-motivated person who meets the academic requirements for enrolment for the PhD degree at Swinburne University of Technology.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
