Project Background
DAI Global is implementing a five-year, USAID program in West Africa. The program supports the efforts of West Africans to address the risks of instability from democratic backsliding and from conflict, and prioritizes targeted governance, conflict and violence prevention, peacebuilding, and preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) interventions across the region. The program will engage with regional partners, such as ECOWAS, and with governments and non-government institutions to address causes of fragility, and focus on good governance approaches, conflict prevention and response, and P/CVE interventions across select target countries in the Sahel and across Coastal West Africa.
Position Description
The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Specialist will work collaboratively with the Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Lead to ensure the integration of gender, youth, and social inclusion issues into all program activities. The WPS will also coordinate with all Country Directors to ensure national-level program activities are provided the necessary GESI resources required.
Tasks & Responsibilities
The following comprise main responsibilities of the WPS Specialist:
- Provide programmatic and administrative support to the integration of women, peace and security into all program activities across all target countries.
- Contribute to the program’s reporting; work planning; communications; monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) as it pertains to WPS and GESI.
- Work with the GESI Lead to identify and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
- Participate in planning and visioning meetings with the program’s Technical Team and USAID as needed.
- Support data collection and quality assurance for MEL and ensure indicators pertaining to GESI and WPS are incorporated into project indictors.
- Coordinate resource sharing and programmatic support with all Country Directors.
- In coordination with the GESI Lead, support training and conference planning events and workshops.
- Travel to the program country offices to participate in trainings, conferences, or events as requested by the GESI Lead or Senior Management Team.
- Other tasks as directed by the GESI Lead.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in GESI and/or WPS strategies to facilitate gender integration in an international development context, including working with international development partners or donors such as USAID.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong professional skills including communications, coordination, managing multiple tasks, analysis, working with regional multi-country teams and problem-solving required.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving, fluid team setting with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across cultures, including with team members based in other countries.
- Fluency in English and French required.
