Project Background:

The Bangladesh Systems Strengthening for One Health (SSOH) aims to enhance Bangladesh’s global health security (GHS) capacity to operate a high functioning and equitable One Health (OH) disease detection system that prevents, detects, and responds to new and emerging infectious and endemic zoonotic diseases, while ensuring good One Health governance and reducing risks of irreversible antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Through an evidence-informed and integrated systems approach, SSOH will strengthen Bangladesh’s One Health Systems and enhance the country’s capacity to prevent, detect, respond to, and recover from infectious disease threats. The activity aims to achieve results under the following development objectives:

  1. Strengthen Systems for Better One Health Governance across the Government of Bangladesh (GOB).
  2. Strengthen One Health Disease Detection Systems for effective prevention, detection and response.
  3. Reduce Threats of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) across OH sectors.

Role’s Purpose:

The Workforce Development Coordinator will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and will report directly to the Public Health Lead (PHTL). The Workforce Development Coordinator will oversee identifying and addressing workforce needs within the One Health sector. They will directly manage the workforce development activities across the overall activity. This includes assessments, curriculum development, training implementation, progress monitoring and evaluation to measure skill development across One Health sectors.

Key duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with technical staff, GOB, and other stakeholders to identify workforce needs, including educational and experience requirements expected of staff within the One Health sector.
  • Conduct mapping of networks and networking systems to support communities of practice and connectedness, integration, and coordination.
  • Collaborates with technical staff, GOB, and other stakeholders to develop training plans and advise educational institutions on curriculum development and operationalization.
  • Organize training programs in collaboration with stakeholders and technical staff.
  • Identify resource persons and develop a resource pool for providing various training programs.
  • Track delivery progress against workplan, ensuring efficient, effective and timely delivery.
  • Provide support to develop and operationalize Bangladesh One Health University Network (BOHUN).
  • Organize OH OLYMPIAD in collaboration with academic institutions with support of BOHUN.
  • Support the OH Secretariat and OH Bangladesh in the provision of workforce development strategic planning, continuing education opportunities, conferencing and networks.
  • Support Technical Leads to prepare the monthly and quarterly reports on activity progress or other interim, case studies, etc., in collaboration with other technical staff.
  • In addition, it may be needed to perform additional activities within the SSOH activities, if felt necessary by the COP and PHTL.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in continuing education, industry, workforce development, or other relevant area. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least nine years of experience in related programming, including public health sector human and institutional capacity building programming, vocational training, and/or continuing education.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams with diverse stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Proven project management experience with sound problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Previous experience working on USG or other bilateral and multilateral organization projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language skills preferred.

Reporting

The Workforce Development Coordinator will report to the Public Health Lead (PHTL).
