About the opportunity

Your passion and expertise for safety will be key to supporting our people to take responsibility for their own health, safety, and wellbeing.

You will work across the whole organisation providing expert advice, support and guidance on all things Work Health & Safety. This includes developing and rolling out education and activities, implementing consultative processes and promoting a positive and active safety culture.

The role will business partner with Uniting’s exciting Housing Development projects. Uniting Housing is making housing a priority by developing affordable, safe and secure access to housing to a wide range of communities.

This role will come with tailored training and certification opportunities, significant support and a consultative approach to how the role will develop and what your performance indicators will be.

What’s on offer

We offer a flexible work environment and set you up with the tools and access to work from home or at Head Office in the Melbourne CBD or any other Uniting Office. This role will require you to schedule visits to our sites across Victoria and Tasmania and you will be provided with a travel allowance and accommodation as needed.

In addition to base salary and superannuation, you’ll also receive 17.5% leave loading and the ability to increase your take-home pay by accessing up to $15,900 in salary packaging benefits that can be used on living expenses such as groceries, bills, clothing, streaming services, and much more.

There is also the option to increase your annual leave entitlements through our purchased leave program, access to paid parental leave for up to 10 weeks and can receive a 10% gap discount on the childcare subsidy gap fee when using a Uniting Early Learning service or centre.

About you

You are a Work Health and Safety professional, skilled advisor, and confident risk assessor. You are excited to operate in an organisation with a wide portfolio of industries and WHS needs. Ideally, you will have a background in housing and construction.

If you’re the person who enjoys working in the details, working on complex problems, building relationships and gets excited when new guidance from WorkSafe drops, then this could be the job for you.

You also love the idea of travelling for work and are looking for a job that looks a little bit different every day.

You’ll also bring with you:

  • A current driver’s license.
  • Previous experience in construction and/or property development will be highly desirable.
  • Proven track record building relationships and influencing a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel regularly and work across different sites in Victoria and Tasmania required.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work, Health & Safety will be highly desirable.
  • Additional WHS Credentials/Professional Development (i.e., WorkSafe Victoria Construction Induction) will be highly desirable.
