Based at our Milton Head Office and working with the People & Culture team, the Workplace Relations Specialist will provide expert advice to the wider organisation on Employment and Industrial Relations matters including case management and application of legislation and industrial instruments. You will lead and support a range of ER/IR activities and projects to build a compliant and contemporary industrial relations framework. In this role you will:

  • Work collaboratively with the People & Culture Business Partnering team, and People & Culture leaders to provide integrated, holistic, and contemporary people practices in a modern, flexible, & digital workplace.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and coaching for complex employee case management and industrial instrument interpretation across yourtown, along with guidance on best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and review policies, procedures and supporting compliance practices.
  • Represent, advocate, and liaise with key stakeholders, Union representatives and professional bodies on industrial relations matters.
  • Coordinate and undertake formal workplace investigations with internal stakeholders and external parties.

This opportunity is a 12-month, maximum term contract.

what we are looking for

  • Qualifications, preferably post graduate, in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Law, or a related discipline, coupled with demonstrated experience providing high level advice on employment-related legislation, policies, employment contracts, Awards, and enterprise agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing employment disputes in a range of jurisdictions.
  • Excellent knowledge of current Australian employment law
  • Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, exercise critical decision making, manage customer expectations and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced professional writing proficiency, including the capacity to create formal and legal communications, reports, and submissions.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to quickly develop positive and productive working relationships.
