Job Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

A World Vision driver provides safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to support World Vision’s programs, staff, and partners. This role ensures the timely movement of people and materials, proper care of vehicles, and adherence to safety and organizational policies. In alignment with World Vision’s mission and core values, the Driver demonstrates integrity, respect, and service, enabling teams to reach vulnerable communities where our work has the greatest impact. By ensuring staff and resources reach those in need efficiently and responsibly, the Driver plays a vital role in advancing World Vision’s commitment to serve children, families, and communities in overcoming poverty and injustice.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

• Provide safe and timely transportation of staff, visitors, and goods
• Ensure proper care, maintenance, and cleanliness of vehicles
• Maintain accurate vehicle records (logbooks, fuel usage, service reports, incident reports)
• Adhere to safety, security, and traffic regulations, including World Vision policies
• Support logistics and administrative tasks as required
• Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Fleet Coordinator/ Manager

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

• 2 years of experience in driving hard top/jeep, mini buses and saloon vehicles.
• Must have a valid professional driver’s license
• Good driving skills
• Tact and diplomacy in dealing with staff and visitors
• Must have a pleasant personality and good attitude to work
• Must be a committed Christian and/or able to stand above denominational diversities.
• Champions Child Safe Organization practices
• Been a mechanic or former ambulance driver will be an added advantage
• NGO or company driving experience and technical certification

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

• Minimum Educational level required: Basic Education Certificate (BECE) Junior Secondary school education.
• Basic knowledge in vehicle mechanics.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

• Frequent travels to field offices within the country

Language Requirements

• English, Krio and any local languages in Sierra Leone
