WWF: Education Intern – Washington

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Education Intern to support WWF’s Wild Classroom program in building the capacity of educators by developing environmental education resources and opportunities that inspire, engage, and increase the environmental literacy of children in grades K-12.

Responsibilities

This position will play an active role in the strategy, development, and outreach of educational materials while implementing tactics to help the Wild Classroom team meet their programmatic goals.

Assist with the creation and development of engaging and inclusive educational resources and opportunities such as written curriculum, video tutorials, interactive events, student materials (readings, handouts, quizzes), and more. This includes working directly with members of WWF’s programmatic teams (oceans, wildlife, climate, etc.), as well as marketing and communication teams, as part of the project management process.
Contribute to guiding the program’s content priorities by staying up to date and reporting on trends in the education field, current teaching strategies, and inclusive learning techniques.
Contribute to marketing and communication efforts to help grow the reach and engagement of Wild Classroom. This includes seeking opportunities to share program updates and offerings either internally (via staff newsletters and within department meetings) or externally (via digital resource hubs and recognition/award opportunities).
Support the management of educational partnerships and the production of associated content.
Manage tasks crucial to the efficiency of the Wild Classroom program, including but not limited to monitoring the Wild Classroom email inbox and promptly responding to inquiries, reviewing other program communications (such as social media posts and email) through an educational lens and providing feedback, and monitoring and evaluating the performance of program tactics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Current enrollment or a completed bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or environmental sciences
Experience in educating youth, formally or nonformal
Experience in developing education material, to be used in a formal or nonformal learning setting
Skilled with Microsoft Office tools, Google Drive, and Canva; familiarity with AI and Adobe Suite appreciated
Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Is highly organized with the ability to successfully manage competing priorities while paying close attention to detail
Demonstrates creative and out-of-the-box thinking
Takes initiative, and is a proactive self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team
Committed to the mission, goals, and values of WWF and is passionate about education and conservation
Available full-time (working a compressed work schedule – 31/39 hours per week with every other Friday off for “Panda Friday”) for one year

Location:

Washington, DC or remote.

If US Remote, WWF employs interns in all states with the exception of: Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wyoming.

Compensation:

Paid ($20.50 for undergraduate students, $22.50 per hour for graduate students)
