Could you coordinate the activities of a youth project which provides group support and 121 casework to young asylum seekers and refugees? You will be making a tangible difference within the Cambridgeshire community and enabling us to achieve our mission of supporting people in crisis.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Project Coordinator to join our Refugee Support and Restoring Family Links (RSRFL) team. We are a small team all connected by the common goal of helping people who have been displaced because of their migration status.

Your focus will be on coordinating our Group Work project for refugees and asylum seeking young people aged 16-24 based in Peterborough and the surrounding areas. You will oversee developing, coordinating and delivering the project and will undertake a range of duties designed to develop, maintain and promote our service.

A day in the life of a Young Refugee Project Coordinator will involve:

You’ll plan and facilitate the weekly activity sessions and trips with the aim of building life skills, improving confidence, aid personal and social development, enable young refugees to meet other young people and improve their English language skills.

From the group work sessions and engagement with young people, you will become aware of individual needs that need to be addressed to help young people develop. As a result, this post will undertake a small amount of casework, delivered on a 121 basis, to help these young people access the relevant services and advice that they need.

To be a successful Young Refugee Project Coordinator, you will have?

Experience of supporting or working with young people?
An understanding of issues relating to asylum seekers and refugees, including young asylum seekers and refugees?
Team player attributes and a great communicator will the skills to communicate effectively in group settings?
You must be able to work late Tuesday afternoon/evenings as this is when your group sessions will take place.
The ability to support, manage and develop volunteers (previous experience of managing volunteers would be an advantage)?
Great time management skills and are able to plan, prioritise and monitor your own and others’ workload?
