Job Overview: The Youth Education & Learning Manager is the lead of IRC Atlanta’s education and learning focused programming for children and youth. Ensuring that the Youth Education team continues to grow and adapt to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. They manage program development and implementation, ensure compliance of services within grants and contracts, participate in program fundraising and partnership development, and represent IRC Atlanta in local forums on education and learning issues.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program Leadership

  • Lead departmental strategic planning in line with IRC’s organizational strategy (Strategy100), the Atlanta office Strategy Action Plan, and IRC’s Outcomes to Evidence Framework, and vision for RAI Education & Youth programs.
  • Support Program Supervisors and Coordinators to design evidence-based programs in line with RAI network approaches to high quality Education programming.
  • Provide leadership, vision to ensure that the Youth Education team continues to grow and adapt to the meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance of internal program-specific policies and procedures in line with relevant organizational, federal, state, and local policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, including (but not limited to) those related to safeguarding, safety, security, data management, confidentiality, etc.
  • Coordinate closely with other program managers and IRC staff to ensure seamless delivery of services to clients utilizing a client-centered service model.
  • Report regularly to the Deputy Director on activities and results as well as areas of concern.
  • Participate as active member of the IRC in Atlanta’s Programs Team and facilitate interdepartmental communication and information sharing.
  • Represent the Youth Education team within the IRC network in conferences, working groups and other contexts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

People Management

  • Manage a team in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards, including leading Youth Education Program team members and formally evaluate team and individual performance to ensure objectives have been met.
  • Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support to staff in all aspects of Youth Education Program responsibilities.
  • Promote staff participation in RAI networking and learning opportunities.

Resource & Partnership Management

  • Effectively manage the development of all Youth Education proposals and service contracts, their implementation, compliance, and completion.
  • Develop program budgets in collaboration with Deputy Director of Programs, Finance, and Resource Development teams. Oversee program budgets and manage expenses to ensure costs are maintained within allocated budgets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of services and programmatic data to donors and all relevant parties.
  • Serve as Youth Education Programs team point person for collaboration and correspondence with external stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in education, child psychology, social work or relevant field strongly preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years progressive work experience in education and/or youth development programming.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing multiple, complex education programs including staff management, program development, monitoring, and evaluation, and advocacy experience.
  • Experience working with English Language Learning students essential.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Previous fundraising and grant writing experience; strong analytical, training, oral and written communication skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid diplomacy, relationship building and networking skills; ability to effectively manage internal and external relationships, including community stakeholders and donors.
  • Previous financial management experience, including proven effective management of budgets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work successfully in cross-cultural environment.
  • Solid organizational skills with ability to multi-task, set priorities, manage time, and meet deadlines. Flexibility and ability to work well under pressure is essential.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service area.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
