About the Program

Anglicare NT provide several support services to young people in the East Arnhem Region.

Our U-Turn program provides young people with alternatives to detention and pathways out of justice, by providing life skills training, developing connection through cultural activities and restorative justice conferencing.

Our Reconnect Program is a youth homelessness early intervention and prevention program providing young people who have recently left home or are thinking about leaving home and require support.

About the Opportunity.

The Youth & Family Worker provides practical support and assertive outreach for young people and their families through a strengths-based and trauma informed perspective.

This is achieved through case planning, information, referrals, and advocacy and providing developmentally appropriate group work activities, restorative justice processes and community giving activities, along with life skill development to pathway into education, training and/or employment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum two years’ experience working with young people and families in community-based environments.
  • Knowledge of the youth justice, child protection system and local youth, family services
  • Experience in assertive outreach strategies and ability to effectively engage with young people with challenging and/or trauma related behaviours through the delivery of support and group work.
  • Prior experience or, at a minimum, demonstrated commitment to working respectfully with Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse clients, communities, staff, and Aboriginal controlled organisations.

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current NT manual driver’s licence.

Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.
