The Youth Participation Project Officer will be responsible for supporting and coordinating key national youth participation projects, events, and activities to facilitate meaningful participation opportunities with young people across the organisation.

Reporting to the Manager – Youth Participation you will:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the engagement of young people in national youth participation opportunities.
  • Facilitate relationship-building and collaboration between staff/leadership at Orygen and young people involved in national youth participation programs.
  • Develop and manage project plans, mechanisms to evaluate and monitor progress, and reporting to senior leaders, Committees, and the Orygen Board to provide advice and inform decision-making.
  • Provide advice to strengthen youth participation practice across Orygen’s work, particularly in research, clinical care, workforce development and policy.

What you’ll need

You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Development, Health Promotion or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to contemporary approaches to youth participation.
  • Experience implementing meaningful youth participation activities with young people in a health, advocacy, research, policy or related setting
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Salary between $82,000 – $88,000 commensurate with skills and experience pro rata + superannuation and $15,900 in NFP salary packaging + $2,600 meals and entertainment card.

This is a part time (0.8FTE) contract for 12 months.
