About the Role:

The Youth Worker – Your Journey joins a team of Youth Workers to deliver supports within their program area, which include Targeted Care Packages, Housing and Homelessness, Better Futures and Homestretch.

Each day as a Your Journey Youth Worker is different, but your key responsibilities will include:

  • Advocating on behalf of young people to support their rights.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with young people, undertaking assessments, and establishing support plans in conjunction with the young person.
  • Supporting young people to develop exit plans, leaving care plans, and to access housing and community support options as required.
  • Liaison and collaboration with a range of service providers: community, disability, and youth specific.
  • Undertaking respectful, solutions focussed ‘Advantaged Thinking’ approach to working with young people while being open about risks, strategies to reduce risk and expectations in relation to dignity of risk that promotes the wellbeing of young people.
  • Participating in reflective practice and professional development including professional supervision, support and coaching and taking an active role in professional development opportunities.
  • Maintaining comprehensive professional case notes, reports, client files and records, including data collection according to program and statutory requirements, and ensuring completion timelines are met.

Qualifications & Experience:

A Tertiary qualification in youth work, counselling, community services or other relevant discipline and proven experience in the delivery of services to young people experiencing complex behaviours.
