your opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Youth Worker to join our Women to Work program with Social Enterprises in St Marys NSW. The Youth Worker will deliver strengths-based case management to young people to support them with addressing vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment. Based at our Social Enterprise location in St Marys, you will collaborate with the team to deliver quality services that enhance self-efficacy of our youth by focusing on their strengths and inherent abilities.
As a Youth Worker, your day will include:
- Undertaking individual assessments and providing referrals to specialist assistance services.
- Developing and delivering group activities and workshops to help build vocational and non-vocational skills, life skills and work readiness for young people.
- Working in collaboration with the young person to set goals to address non-vocational barriers.
- Developing individual case plans, outlining the young person’s goals and monitoring their progress and achievements against the plan.
- Case conferencing with the enterprise coordinator/ job coach to ensure a unified approach.
- Challenging the status quo and advocating for the young person.
- Actively engaging with the local community and gain support for referrals for our young people.
what we are looking for
- Certificate IV in Youth Work or a related discipline a minimum of two years experience in a similar role; OR a minimum of four years of experience in youth work (or similar role).
- Demonstrated experience in youth work, or a similar role, in the provision of effective case management of disengaged young people, as well as demonstrated experience in developing strategies to overcome the challenges to employment faced by disadvantaged youth.
- Proven ability to deliver workshops and group facilitation processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a flair for networking will see you build relationships across a variety of stakeholders, including client cohorts, government, community and business groups.
- Proficient skills in using technology and systems; our compliance requirements are high and your administration needs to be on par with this.
