HYPA Housing program offer young people aged 17-25 years who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness a safe, affordable, and supportive housing option while they work towards moving into independent housing.
We are seeking a highly motivated, outcome focused Youth worker to join the team on a Full-time basis. This position is primarily located at our Kent Town head office, working across Hocking Court, Munno Para, and Smithfield HYPA housing sites.
Reporting to the HYPA Housing Team leader, you are responsible for developing and promoting a positive community in the HYPA Housing and support young people to increase their independent skills, increase their capacity and links to the local community, achieve their goals and facilitate their successful transition to independent living. The day-to-day activities will include:
- Building and promoting positive community within the HYPA Housing facility
- Developing and facilitating group activities
- Mentoring and coaching you people
- Attending and co-facilitating tenant meeting with lead tenants
- Providing support to young people with their exit plan
- Developing a Tenant Transition Plan
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders
About You
As someone who has a passion in helping young people with complex needs your problem solving and proactive work approach will enhance their capacity and support them as they move through achieving their goals. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Working effectively as a member of a team to deliver quality services and collaboratively achieve outcomes.
- Time management and organisation skills, able to plan, prioritise and achieve outcomes with minimal supervision and/or direction and to successfully meet deadlines and KPIs.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong engagement skills and ability to interact effectively and sensitively with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to write timely and accurate case notes and reports.
For this role, you will need to:
- Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check, First Aid & CPR and National Police Check.
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
- To hold and maintain an approved First Aid Certificate
- Be prepared to undergo a Psychological Assessment.
- Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive, and your own registered vehicle with a 4–5-star ANCAP safety rating.
