About the role:
Reporting directly to the Program Manager, Carinity Youth – On Track has a vacancy for a Youth Worker to join their team on a casual basis. This is a 24 hour/ 7 day per week service where, as a Youth Worker, you play an important part in the caring team through providing support to ‘at risk’ youth. You also assist with their daily living, recreational activities and life skills development as a part of an accommodation service.
The role is located at Carinity Youth – On Track, this centre is located in Yeppoon, Central Queensland and is approximately 35 minutes north east of Rockhampton. On Track provides nonfamily-based accommodation and support to young people (aged 12-17) with complex support needs, teaching them the life skills they need to interact well with their peers, and realise their full potential in a homelike environment.
What do I need for the role?
- Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including afternoons, nights, weekends, and sleepovers
- Certificate IV Child Youth Family Intervention (Residential Care), or equivalent or willing to enrol and gain qualification (Strengthening the Queensland Residential Care Workforce – Minimum Qualification Standards Information Sheet (cyjma.qld.gov.au)
- Other recognised Cert IV’s include: Alcohol and other drugs, community development, community services, community welfare, disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, Youth Justice, Youth Work and Mental Health
- Team player with a desire to ensure quality delivery of service for the young people in our care
- Previous experience in trauma informed practice will be highly regarded
- Hope and Healing Module completion or completion prior to commencement
