Zone Manager 1
Facilities Services Operations and Maintenance
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Zone Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of each facility in his or her zone. This position is responsible for managing the team of lead personnel, workers, contractors, and all other service personnel required to maintain facilities and equipment in good working order. In addition to normal and ongoing facilities maintenance responsibilities, this manager has overall responsibility for all corrective actions and measures to be taken to restore full service in the case of unforeseen damages and disruptions to the facilities in his or her area. This is an Essential Personnel position which can require that the incumbent must report for duty and work through emergencies, and also can be designated by the supervisor as essential for the accomplishment of work, or for the completion of a critical task.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have excellent written and verbal English language communication skills to disseminate the required task descriptions needed to maintain University assets.
- Extensive knowledge in the maintenance and management of buildings and facility systems. This includes experience with the HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting trades.
- Extensive knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and routines for buildings and facilities equipment.
- Must have knowledge in the preparation and administration of outside service contracts.
- Extensive ability to plan, schedule, direct and coordinate the work of subordinates in a maintenance environment, where multiple tasks and demands are involved.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays.
Required Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of ten years industry experience in one or more of the maintenance/construction trades, to include experience with preventive maintenance procedures and experience scheduling and directing the work of subordinates in a maintenance environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical or related field
