The Equity Project

The Equity Project is an exciting, first-of-its-kind social movement that aims to tackle poverty in WA. By engaging with a range of stakeholders (community, business, not-for-profit etc.) we can educate, unite, and mobilise efforts that seek and advocate for solutions on key social issues.

The Equity Project is a collaboration of not-for-profit organisations with Communicare providing the auspice arrangement for affiliated roles. Communicare has a strong passion for delivering high quality, people-focussed support services to celebrate diversity and empower the people we serve.

The Role

The Marketing & Communications Specialist will deliver marketing and communication services across the social movement that is The Equity Project.

In this role you will develop and execute communication and marketing strategies that engage our target audiences (community, business, not-for-profit, youth etc.) and grow, sustain, and unite our membership and supporter base. The role will be critical in ensuring The Equity Project becomes a recognised brand that helps to meet our vision and purpose.

As the Marketing & Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Design, implement, and analyse branded marketing collateral.
  • Develop and implement a communications plan to create an engaging advocacy campaign.
  • Produce all written and digital content for various communications channels.
  • Monitor media and current affairs developments, across a range of media channels and build trusted relationships with key journalists.
  • Create strategies that increase awareness of key social issues, and generate support.
  • Assist in event management.

This role will be located in Cannington on a 12-month fixed term part time basis working 38 hours a fortnight.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related discipline.
  • 2 – 5 years’+ experience in a similar role with a solid understanding of marketing ecosystems, including brand, digital marketing trends, communications, media and creative
  • Ability to develop and execute communication and marketing strategies that increase awareness on issues, change perceptions and mobilise audiences.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, managing multiple tasks with minimal direction.
  • Exceptional writing skills, including the ability to write communication pieces, and some creative writing
  • Experience working across multiple areas and with a variety of key stakeholders (business, community, not-for-profit)
  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current unrestricted Drivers licence
