Description

Tearfund is seeking a dedicated and proactive Project Officer to join our Iraq team. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed professional who is passionate about supporting humanitarian action, driving high-quality project implementation, and building collaborative relationships with partners to help transform lives in alignment with Tearfund’s Country Strategy for Iraq.

The Project Officer will collaborate with consortium partners, the Programme Quality Director and Project manager to design, assess, and monitor projects.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as development, social sciences, or humanitarian work.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role (supportcoordination, or humanitarian/development work), including exposure to reporting, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrable experience with Prevention of Violence against Women and Girls projects.
  • Proven project cycle management experience, including strategic planning, capacity development, budgeting, reporting, and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with a variety of stakeholders and sharing learning.
  • Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.

The ideal candidate should also have:

  • Experience in integrating gender and diversity issues into programmes.
  • Some prior experience working in a consortium (highly desirable).
  • Experience in developing communication/media materials and resources.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in a culturally-sensitive manner and conducive to their practical application especially in similar contexts with an ability to adapt and work within a multiculturalmultilingual and multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to gain respect of partner organisationsinstitutional donors and government representatives 
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Good coordination and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines  

Please note that this role will be based in Basra, Iraq. Applicants must possess a valid passport/visa stating the right to live and work in Iraq.
