We are looking for a highly motivated and talented individual who can deliver excellent teaching and research in the field of Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics.
The successful applicant will contribute to the development and delivery of teaching programmes in the field of Sustainable Freight Transport and Logistics with a focus on freight policy, international and national current and future patterns of freight movement, supply chain logistics and management including issues associated with fuel and vehicle utilisation, reverse logistics, waste management, and warehousing, e-logistics, ‘food miles’, carbon auditing, innovation in freight methods and city logistics in the field of Transport with a focus on imparting knowledge of the freight sector both in dedicated freight sustainability modules but also across our cross-disciplinary portfolio, in transport, logistics and food. This will involve teaching on a range of modules at postgraduate and undergraduate levels across the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) programmes.
The candidate will be able to demonstrate an excellent academic potential and an established track record of high-quality and innovative research activity. The focus of the academic track record should be on advancing the state of the art in sustainable freight transport and logistics with an expected contribution in transitioning to Net Zero. The post holder will be a member of academic staff in the Institute for Transport Studies, which has significant strengths in Spatial Modelling and Dynamics, Social and Political Sciences, Human Factors and Safety, Choice Modelling, Economics and Appraisal. These contribute to research themes connected and shared mobility, automation, digital futures, energy and climate change, air quality and health and Centres in Rail and Choice Modelling. The post holder will be able to work with colleagues in these groups to further their research and enhance the Institute’s offering in the freight area.
You will be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and have a strong background in sustainable freight with knowledge of how this also impacts on food systems.
