Summary of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Fulbright College of Arts and Science’s Executive Director of Strategic Communications, the Associate Director of Communications and Project Management will provide the college with expertise in communication project management, social media, and intern program oversight. In addition, the Associate Director will support the college’s overall external and internal communications efforts, including for its websites, digital signage, publications, and other marketing and communications materials.
The Associate Director also serves as the first point-of-contact for communications requests within the college and is responsible for the intake and management of all projects within the college’s communications and creative services team, as well as for maintaining and running the team’s project management system. This position will also manage the day-to-day social media activities for the college and will be responsible for developing and updating an annual strategic social media plan, collecting and analyzing quarterly social media analytics, and providing training and best practice materials to all social media contributors across the college.
The Associate Director will also serve as back up support for fellow college communications and creative services team members, and will manage team workflows, approvals, and payments as well as facilitate and coordinate departmental work and collaboration between full-time staff, intern, and vendor team members.
The Associate Director has the ability to work a flexible schedule and to perform other related duties as required to support the mission of the college and as directed by the Dean and the Executive Director of Strategic Communications.
Regular, non-disruptive and reliable attendance is required, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
At least 3 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, design, project management, social media management, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated project management experience and familiarity with project management systems, such as Wrike, etc.
Demonstrated experience running and/or creating content for multiple social media channels
Experience in a communications role requiring interaction with constituents across many levels, both internally and externally across an organization
Experience contributing to web content as well as general marketing and promotion experience
Some experience with web content management systems, such as OmniUpdate, WordPress, etc.
Some experience with training users in web-based utilities
Some experience in graphic design for both print and digital
Some writing experience and general knowledge of the AP Stylebook
Experience working with interns
Experience working with vendors
Higher education experience in communications, marketing, design, project management, social media management or a related field is a plus
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong technical skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, BOX, and multiple social media networks
Excellent organization and project management skills
Demonstrated skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service
Attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated capacity to meet deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
Demonstrated ability to take initiative with a continuous improvement mindset
Additional Information:
This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.
