Associate Field Archaeologist

Job Description
The Associate Archaeologist is responsible for supporting archaeological research and fieldwork initiatives. This role involves contributing to excavations, surveys, research, and documentation of archaeological sites, artifacts, and cultural heritage.
*Participation in archaeological fieldwork, including excavations, surveys, and site documentation.
*Assist with the excavation and recording of archaeological features, structures, and artifacts.
*Assist in the analysis, cataloging, and documentation of archaeological artifacts and materials recovered during fieldwork.
*Collaborate with senior archaeologists to interpret artifact contexts and significance.
*Create detailed site plans, maps, and records using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and traditional mapping techniques.
*Maintain accurate field notes and documentation of excavation and survey findings.
*Contribute to archaeological research projects including literature reviews, data analysis, and report writing.
*Assist in the development of research questions and methodologies.
*Support efforts to preserve and protect cultural heritage sites and artifacts including engagement with local communities and stakeholders.
*Assist in artifact cleaning, conservation, and analysis in laboratory settings, following established protocols.
*Assist in implementing data standards and best practices.
Skills and Requirements
*Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field.
*3 years of relevant post-education experience working in archaeological fieldwork to include site recordation, survey, construction monitoring, and excavation.
*2-3 years of international experience
