Position Summary:

The National Domestic Workers Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit that
organizes domestic workers in the United States to advance respect,
recognition, and labor standards. We work to guarantee labor
protections for domestic workers by winning legislation at the
state level, pushing for regulatory changes at the national level,
through the International Labor Organization at the global level,
and elevating domestic workers as key leaders in building a
powerful movement for social and global justice. The Alliance
formed in 2007 at the US Social Forum and currently represents 70+
affiliates and chapters in 20 states, as well as a growing digital
network of 400,000+ workers nationally.

Care in Action is a 501c4 nonprofit group dedicated to fighting
for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in
the United States, most of whom are women of color. Founded in
2016, Care in Action provides the tools, training, and community
that working families need to make their voices heard, and organize
and advocate for respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor
protections.

We seek a highly organized, resourceful, and relationship-driven
Development Coordinator to serve in this newly-created position as
a member of the Development team. A consummate project manager, the
Development Coordinator will bring an existing foundation of
development experience to the team and provide essential support to
ensure NDWA and our sister entities are able to reach our ambitious
fundraising goals. This role will be integral to intra- and
cross-team coordination and communication. The Coordinator will
drive new systems to support donor engagement, retention, and
prospecting; provide logistical and project management support for
fundraising campaigns and events; and help compile key information
for external communications, including grant proposals, grant
reports, concept notes, briefings, and individual donor updates.
The Development Coordinator must be able to integrate with the
team, assess needs, prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks, and
interact with a wide variety of internal and external
constituencies at varying leadership levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

Systems Creation and Project
Planning

  • Work closely with Deputy Development Director to translate
    high-level annual team goals into individual work plans
  • Maintain and update project plans for team-wide projects,
    including ensuring input from the team in design, tracking key
    progress milestones and deadlines, clarifying a division of
    responsibilities (including when and how decision-makers need to be
    brought in to the project), and flagging risks or delays for
    Development leadership
  • Working closely with the Senior and Deputy Development
    Directors, create and drive implementation of new systems to
    ensure:
    • A robust and regular process for sourcing, assessing, and
      cultivating new prospects who can support programmatic bodies of
      work across all entities
    • A programmatic content collection and organization system to
      streamline development team members’ access to up-to-date
      information for use in donor cultivation and stewardship
    • A robust cross-entity donor engagement calendar that serves to
      streamline donor engagement and maximize giving across
      entities
  • Ensure that new systems are implemented and regularly reviewed
    and improved

Prospect Management

  • Provide logistical support to the Individual Giving team in
    managing and tracking prospect pipeline and moves management
    processes in Salesforce, including by leveraging iWave wealth
    screenings and giving history
  • Create prospect profiles for both individual and institutional
    prospects, including assessment of wealth and philanthropic
    interests, grant-making criteria, and propensity to support NDWA
    and our sister entities
  • Develop assessment and measurement strategies and methods to
    report on the effectiveness of prospecting activity

Donor Engagement

  • As needed, assist other team members with compiling key
    information for external communications, including grant proposals,
    grant reports, concept notes, briefings, and individual donor
    updates
  • Support with logistics associated with virtual and in-person
    fundraising briefings and events, including the creation of
    invitation lists, mailings, registration management, vendor
    communication, special guest management, event promotions, and
    post-event follow-up

Internal Coordination

  • Attend select development and cross-team strategy meetings and
    serve as primary note-taker to log and identify next steps
  • Provide support to the development team regarding all aspects
    of meeting management including: research, preparing materials,
    drafting strategies and talking points, coordinating meeting
    confirmation and follow-up activities, and capturing meeting
    downloads
  • Evaluate existing and new research and project management tools
    to ensure that the most effective resources are available and
    utilized.

Other

  • Participate in other activities as needed, including
    organization-wide activities such as retreats, monthly meetings and
    staff study
  • Travel requirement, when safe and the organization resumes
    travel: 10%
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to work
    independently
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time,
    evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete tasks within
    established time frames, while producing high quality work
  • Excellent and compelling writing skills, including a strong
    grasp of English grammar, punctuation, copy editing, and
    proofreading skills
  • Excellent project organizing skills with meticulous attention
    to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability
    to work cooperatively and effectively with a team, as part of an
    organization, and with other organizations and other professionals;
    accepts, acts upon, and offers constructive criticism; and
    approaches situations with a sense of humor
  • Acute attention to detail
  • At least 3 years previous employment experience in nonprofit
    development
  • Experience in c4 and PAC fundraising contexts preferred, but
    not required.
  • Demonstrated success identifying, cultivating, securing, and
    growing a portfolio of donors
  • Demonstrated success in creating effective messaging and
    materials for donors and funders, including digital appeals, direct
    appeals, grant proposals, and grant reports
  • Proficiency in Google Docs and Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of CRM operations; Salesforce experience a major
    plus
  • Alignment with NDWA’s vision and values
  • Understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant
    communities, and other communities of color
  • Belief in the leadership and political power of women of color,
    especially Black and Indigenous women
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed

NOTE: This position is included in a collective
bargaining unit represented by a labor union, and specific
employment terms and conditions may be subject to a Collective
Bargaining Agreement.
