Department Summary The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic “bench-top” science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer’s disease.
Position Overview Develop and initiate department-wide SOPs, help oversee and improve the day-to-day employee relations operations of the department. This position will be encouraged to innovate and build upon current processes and serve as a resource to the department.

Minimum Qualifications Masters Degree in a related discipline and 5 years of related experience: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of office management responsibilities, systems ad procedures
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent computer skills with a high degree of proficiency in the Microsoft Suite applications.

  • 4 yrs HR and/or training experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Support teamwork and cooperation with co-workers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

o Assist with day to day functions: promotion requests, employee feedback sessions, provide guidance to supervisors as needed
o Training program development: work with core leads and directors to establish and implement formalized developmental training programs within their team.
o Conduct institute specific new hire orientation, maintain onboarding records and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures and regulations. Manage the exit interview process within the institute. Advise institute leaders on areas of strength and opportunity.
o Employee Improvement: Manage the institute coaching program by meeting with employees to align personal and institute goals. Provide and manage the assignment of internal or external coaches.
o Training: Conduct training sessions specific to indicated need, with supervisors, front line, and middle managers by utilizing UNT system, internal and external resources.
o Other duties as assigned
