The Development Director fosters a culture of philanthropy
within the organization, ensuring that the organization’s culture,
systems, and procedures support fund development strategy. The
Director is responsible for designing and implementing the school’s
fundraising development plan, including capital, annual fund, major
gifts, grants, and special events. Also responsible for championing
the organization’s community engagement strategy, including
communications, event management, public relations, and volunteer
engagement, that leads to strong community awareness of the
organization’s brand.
The Development Director is a full-time, salaried position and
reports to the President. This position works with various campaign
volunteers, the board of directors, consultants, and donors and
provides reports to all stakeholders. Additionally, the Development
Director will maintain a portfolio of major donors and is
responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of this
portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and direct the school’s development plan,
including capital campaign, major gifts program, and annual
fund. - Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors to meet capital
campaign goals. - Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors to grow the major
gifts program. - Direct the annual fund program, including mailings, annual
fundraising drives, and employee and board fundraising. - Direct stewardship and cultivation programs for current and
prospective donors to establish effective relationships and
communications. - Engage each board member and volunteer to give his/her best
fundraising, personally and professionally. - Oversee grant seeking, including research, proposal writing,
and reporting requirements. - Sustain and expand the agency’s in-kind revenue
opportunities. - Lead and direct the coordination of fundraising special
events. - Attend community fundraising opportunities by making public
appearances/accepting speaking engagements to share information
about Cristo Rey Miami - Integration with school programs and activities to connect
donors/prospects to real-time experiences. - Participate in Board and Development Committee meetings.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff.
- Oversee the creation of publications to support fundraising
activities such as annual reports and newsletters. - Develop the annual operational budget for the Development
Department, track the financial performance, and manage objectives
with operational expenditures. - Perform other related duties as requested.

staff, board, donors, volunteers, and prospects. - Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills and sound

- Must be organized, have strong attention to detail, and be able
to accept direction and work independently. - Must maintain utmost discretion concerning donor
confidentiality and privacy. - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. - Some travel is required. Some night and weekend work is
required. - Attend all events to support other staff and volunteers to
ensure exceptional execution of special events. Participate in
post-event activities, including stewardship and evaluating
successes and challenges. - Be dependable, flexible, and highly sensitive to and supportive
of the mission of Cristo Rey Miami.
Management Responsibilities
- Leads and supervises the Development Coordinator
- Maintains and optimizes all donor, prospect, and gift
management systems and informational reports. - Coordinates the sound fiscal operation of the development
function, including timely, accurate, and comprehensive assistance
with charitable contributions, income and expense budgets,
reporting, monitoring, and implementation. - Facilitates and supports development resources in such a way as
to maximize quantity and quality to obtain a set of results.
Public Relations, Marketing, and Communications
Responsibilities
- Drive strong Cristo Rey brand awareness in the South Florida
region. - Targets and cultivates new mission-aligned audiences.
- Implements website, social media, and program marketing
strategies. - Assists and advises on all public outreach events.
- Represents Cristo Rey as needed. Be willing to collaborate with
other staff in all aspects of the Cristo Rey mission. - Generates and utilizes all fundraising materials, board
solicitations, annual fund appeals, annual reports, reports to
donors, major donor cultivation materials, and donor
acknowledgments.

Relevant Work Experience
- 5-7 year track record of successful major gifts fundraising.
Experience should include campaign management, donor stewardship,
