WE ARE

The unit is responsible and centre of knowledge for the various dimensions of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), which is at the heart of all EU policies with budgetary impact and one of the most strategic and political file of the European Commission. The unit leads the preparations of the MFF 2028-2034 and the negotiations of the future financial framework. The unit implements the current MFF and NextGenerationEU, including by producing forecasts and assessing the sustainability of contingent liabilities. Unit B1 is the Chief Economist unit, it produces data- driven analyses and publishes “EU Budget Policy briefs” to steer the policy debate also with the organisation of conferences and events. In performing these tasks, the unit has a key role in gathering and coordinating input from all Commission services.

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualities:

• A dynamic and motivated colleague, with a background in political science or economic policy;

WE LOOK FOR

• Experience in dealing with the EU budget, EU spending programmes, the Financial Regulation and institutional relations would be a strong asset;
• Experience in policy analysis and development;
• Excellent drafting skills and communication skills and ability to disseminate the unit analysis via presentations, notes, participation in seminars;
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team;
• Ability to manage/coordinate different tasks and priorities at the same time while meeting extremely tight deadlines;
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes in the tasks assigned.

The main language used in the Unit is English.
