Finance Manager

Position description

AWID is looking to hire a Finance Manager who will be responsible for ensuring the financial health of the organization and develop plans for the long-term financial goals of the organization. The Finance Manager will conduct accurate data analysis and offer advice to relevant staff and Board as required on strategies to secure the long-term financial health and sustainability for AWID. 

This full-time role sits within AWID’s Finance Team, is under the direct supervision of the Director of Finance and works closely with the Accounting Coordinator.  The Finance Team carries out a range of finance functions and leads processes to improve AWID’s financial systems, and provides advice and guidance to relevant staff, including senior management, on current and future financial plans and operations.

The key responsibilities for this role are to lead the accounting functions that includes month-end closures, financial accounting, accounts payable, preparing and producing monthly financial statements, annual audit, tax filing, and other required government filing, budgeting and financial reporting and providing relevant information during budgeting, accounts to donors and other decision-making activities.

The right candidate will be committed to the principles of feminism and anti-oppression, be familiar with regional and global realities of feminist movements with regards to finance. Successful applicants should be able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with diverse stakeholders and have excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies. 

We are looking for someone with an ability to translate complex data and analysis to accessible finance products as well as possession of strong written and spoken communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate the capacity to think strategically and analytically, with expertise in complex problem solving, experience in project and program management, finance and budget monitoring are key. Ability to thrive in a virtual environment working under high-pressure situations and with tight deadlines, possess high levels of initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness is important.
