Role purpose
Responsible, in conjunction with the Accountant, for the financial records, invoicing and expense payments as well as payroll, and the monthly and annual financial reporting for NCC.
Part time (3 days per week).
Roles and responsibilities:
Budget and monthly reporting
- Working with the Accountant to prepare annual budget and monthly reports and ensure effective management of NCC’s cashflow
Finance governance support
- Participate in the Finance Committee including preparing the agenda, minutes, and other reports as required and managing out-of- session requests such as releases from the Gift Fund account.
Bookkeeping
- Ensure timely, accurate and compliant finance administration including banking, bills monthly reconciliations, monthly reports across organisation and project budgets, quarterly reforecasts, PAYG statements, BAS statements, superannuation, GST reporting, workers compensation and with the assistance of the Accountant, FBT reporting (if required), audits and the annual financial statements and others relevant tasks as required.
HR Payroll and Wages
- Manage and maintain employment contracts and a range of HR & wage processes in conjunction with the finance officer and with the oversight of the Accountant.
- Manage the efficient, timely and compliant fortnightly administration of payroll.
Other roles and responsibilities
- Contribute actively to the achievement of the goals of the core team and the organisation according to the Annual and Strategic plans.
- Undertake other tasks as required and in line with the skills and expectations of this role.
Experience
- More than 2 years’ experience in financial operations role undertaking tasks including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, ATO compliance and management reporting.
- Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft365 (including administration of SharePoint and Exchange), high level of experience with MS Excel and Xero or a similar accounting software
- Excellent communication skills including the necessary sensitivity to communicate effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders including staff, volunteers, supporters, donors, members, suppliers and partners.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively both as part of a team and autonomously with a strong work ethic, maturity and reliability in delivery of work.
Extra points for
- Experience working in a busy environment handling a variety of tasks simultaneously (including demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to complete multiple tasks in an efficient and timely manner).
- Experience in the charitable/not for profit sector or a membership peak organisation
Education: We are seeking applicants with relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
