About the job

ECCO is a Brussels-based independent consultancy specialised in EU food policy and the management of trade associations in the food sector. In order to support the Finance & Administration Team, we are looking for a Financial & Administration Officer. You will join our team of ca. 20 people and will be responsible for providing general financial and administrative support to our clients (trade associations in the food sector). You will evolve in a multicultural and cross-disciplinary environment, where team members are passionate and motivated by the desire to deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

Financial support:

  • Preparing outgoing invoices, billbook management for clients;
  • Process incoming invoices and payments, follow-up with suppliers and clients as needed;
  • Updating financial spreadsheets with daily transactions;
  • Provide administrative support during annual budget preparation, preparing financial presentations;
  • Coordination with financial accountants and auditors, participate in annual financial audits, as needed.

Administrative support:

  • Support client associations: maintain contact lists, organisation of in-house and external meetings and events in coordination with managers, update of websites;
  • Back-up for daily administrative business (calls, appointments, travel arrangements);
  • Responsible for reception management (calls, welcoming visitors);
  • Provide efficient primary IT support in coordination with IT services.

Profile

  • Very good level of spoken and written French and English;
  • Good academic qualifications, preferably with a background in economics and/or accounting;
  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in a similar role and an understanding of VAT management and trade association administration in Belgium;
  • Excellent IT & digital skills. Good knowledge of primary accounting procedures and advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions);
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail, numerical accuracy and the ability to multitask and to prioritise;
  • Good communication skills, a solution-oriented mindset and be able to tackle matters with discretion;
  • Applicants should be comfortable working independently but should also be a real team-player with a « can do » attitude;
