To enable us to deliver outstanding policing for everyone, we need a diverse workforce with a range of skills and abilities to deliver a first-class service to the communities of Gwent.Role OverviewGwent Police are looking for a new Head of Victim Services to lead the delivery of victim and witness care services in Gwent on behalf of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Gwent and Gwent Police.You will ensure strategic frameworks exist to enable Gwent Police to be at the cutting edge of service delivery to victims and witnesses, ensuring they are supported throughout the justice process and receive the information, support and guidance they need to cope with their victimisation, to reduce the long-term impact on future emotional, mental and physical wellbeing.You will work with Gwent Police and partners to ensure the organisation is constantly evolving, delivering outstanding service, when people need it most.In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and maintain strategy for Gwent Police with external agencies involved in the criminal justice process with the aim of improving the victims and witnesses’ journey through the criminal justice system.
  • Lead Gwent Police’s victims and witness services and teams to ensure victims and witnesses of crime and anti-social behaviour in Gwent receive a consistent and high-quality service, and,
  • Represent Victim and Witness Services at appropriate strategic governance boards to:
  • evidence best practice,
  • review performance,
  • highlight service risks and
  • collaborate with enabling departments with the overarching aim of improving service delivery.

Skills, experience, and qualifications required:

  • Must possess a management qualification or relevant experience in managing people.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or relevant working at a strategic level in a complex, public sector organisation
