Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Human Rights, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:
1. Identifying, developing and implementing programmatic activities and projects related to human rights and technology, including identification of priority areas, target groups, partners, as well as identifying and implementing relevant activities, for addressing key issues related to human rights and technology;
2. Analyzing and evaluating the human rights implications of emerging technologies and provide actionable recommendations;
3. Developing, promoting and advocating for the implementation of policies that ensure technologies are designed, developed, and deployed in ways that respect and promote human rights and prevent discrimination;
4. Advising government agencies and non-governmental organizations on integrating human rights considerations into their technological projects and initiatives;
5. Providing expert consultation on human rights issues related to data privacy, surveillance, artificial intelligence, and digital inclusion;
6. Providing training and capacity-building sessions for stakeholders;
7. Engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including international human rights bodies, technology developers, regulators, and affected communities;
8. Monitoring global trends and developments in technology and human rights, providing timely analysis and insights;
9. Evaluating the effectiveness of policies and initiatives aimed at protecting human rights in the tech sector;
10. Conducting overall program management duties, including but not limited to planning and implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and budgetary matters.
11. Performing other related duties as assigned.
