Functional Responsibilities

Under the supervision of technical officer TB REACH, and in collaboration with other TB REACH team members, the incumbent’s responsibilities will be to:

1. Review Scientific Literature:

  • Conduct a thorough review of scientific literature on key populations in TB, particularly focusing on case finding interventions.

  • Identify key populations and potential gaps in scientific literature related to TB case finding.

2. Data Mapping:

  • Use the TB REACH database to map key populations involved in past projects.

  • Develop a framework for contextualizing TB case finding approaches for key populations.

  • Develop tools for data extraction and extract relevant data.

3. Data Analysis and Synthesis:

  • Analyze the extracted data using established quantitative and qualitative research methods.

  • Synthesize and write up the results of the data analysis.

  • Present the findings at appropriate forum.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Applicants should be enrolled in a university programme such as Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D. or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship.

Experience:

  • Professional working experience is not required for this internship, but previous working experience in international organizations would be a strong asset.

  • Strong analytic skills and ability to use statistical software and tools is desirable

  • Excellent skills in using qualitative and quantitative methods is desireable

  • Strong knowledge of public health principles and practices is desirable 

Language Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of English (writing, reading, speaking) is required
  • Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.
