Capacity for Nutrition – National Information Platforms for Nutrition (C4N-NIPN) is one of three components of the ‘Knowledge for Nutrition (K4N)’ programme and supports the European Commission (EC), its partners as well as the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with competence and knowledge to strengthen nutrition-related programmes. Launched in 2015, NIPN is an EC initiative, (NIPN – National Information Platforms for Nutrition (nipn-nutrition-platforms.org), which works closely with platforms in eight countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America for better nutrition information systems and improve data analysis for better-informed strategic decisions. The Global Coordination unit in Brussels, Belgium supports the strengthening and sustainability of multi-stakeholder processes by coordinating technical assistance and capacity development for the platforms and also facilitates collaboration between the implementing partners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated junior professional to join our team in Brussels as Junior Advisor for Capacity for Nutrition – National Information Platforms for Nutrition (C4N-NIPN) (m/f/d) starting 1 April 2024 (or earlier)

The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Support all C4N activities related to the project implementation: capacity development, technical assistance, capturing lessons learned, global outreach, communications and knowledge management;
  • Support the communication and monitoring of the initiative as well the regular exchange amongst implementing partners and platforms;
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting on C4N-NIPN activities and knowledge management system of NIPN;
  • Support the production of NIPN knowledge products such as the NIPN newsletter, guidelines, presentations, briefs and info-graphics as well as website content and project documentation;
  • Organize and document events organized by C4N-NIPN, including steering committee meetings, workshops and conferences;
  • Support the communication and coordination within K4N and programme components;
  • Assist in the overall management of the C4N global coordination functions and other tasks, as needed;

Your profile

  • Completed university degree in relevant fields e. g. nutrition, public health, food and nutrition security, agriculture or development studies;
  • First professional experience in project implementation, communications, event and/or conference management;
  • First professional experience in multisectoral and/or nutrition data related projects, preferably in low- and middle-income countries;
  • Very good computer skills (MS-Office and document management systems);
  • Experience with the production of knowledge products and communications technology (video conference calls, webinars etc.) would be an advantage;
  • An excellent grasp of the linkages between all forms of malnutrition and food security, food systems and development cooperation;
  • Team orientation, flexibility within a rapidly changing environment and high degree of motivation to achieve and deliver goal-oriented results on time;
  • English (C2) and French (C2) are required; knowledge of Spanish and/or German would be an asset.

We offer a contract from 1 April 2024 (or earlier) until 30 April 2026 with GIZ in Brussels under Belgian law (PC200). The position will be remunerated according to the level of experience. In addition to the legal holidays, you will receive 5 extra days of holiday per calendar year, as well as lunch checks, health insurance for hospitalisation and the reimbursement of a monthly ticket for Brussels public transport and the possibility for home office in accordance with our respective policy.
