Local Firm to conduct construction supervision of HCWM

tendersglobal.net

Introduction :

The Maldives, as a Small Island Developing State (SIDS), confronts significant challenges in Healthcare Waste Management (HCWM) due to its scattered islands, high-water tables, and limited land availability. The management of medical waste in healthcare facilities is especially critical amid the COVID-19 pandemic, exacerbated by insufficient infrastructure for waste disposal. Many facilities resort to burning medical waste openly or using improvised burners due to the absence of proper waste management systems. Addressing this issue, UNDP Maldives aims to construct 19 Healthcare Waste Management Facilities in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and relevant stakeholders.

To ensure the quality and supervision of these constructions, UNDP plans to engage a consultancy firm to oversee and maintain construction standards throughout the project’s duration.
