LUTHERAN WORLD FEDERATION IRAQ invites you to tender for the Design of water treatment plant in Sumel-Duhok.
The project involves the design of a strategic water treatment plant for Sumel District in Duhok governorate/ Iraq, developed in close coordination with the Directorate of Water – Outskirts and supported by the General Directorate of Water and Sewerage of Kurdistan region. The main objective is to provide a comprehensive engineering design that will serve as a foundation for implementing a fully functional water treatment system, addressing the urgent water needs of Sumel’s growing population.
The scope includes the assessment of existing water infrastructure, integration with the under-construction water intake from Mosul Dam Lake, and the design of key components such as sedimentation tanks, filtration units, aeration systems, water storage tanks, water pipelines that carry water from station to targeted locations and booster stations. These elements are intended to make use of surface water sources, reducing dependence on groundwater and relieving pressure on the Duhok Water Directorate, which currently supplies water to Sumel due to local shortages.
The project also aligns with broader climate adaptation goals by promoting sustainable water use and mitigating the impact of drought and water scarcity.
LWF is committed to finalizing the design phase, both technically and financially, and is working with the Directorate to clarify implementation timelines, stakeholder responsibilities, and required design specifications to guide the procurement process.
