About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity within the Academic Operations Unit (AOU) for a Manager, Research Services to join the team.

In this role you will be responsible for managing the Research Support function and team within the SET (Science, Engineering and Technology) Academic Services team who perform a range of significant research-related activities and play a key supporting role in the delivery of the Research outcomes. Such activities include the collection and administration of research output data and assisting research staff in the preparation of research reports as well as meeting other internal and external requirements. 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Academic Services you will ensure consistency of administrative practices by working closely with a range of research staff across the AOU community of Practice, as well as Swinburne Research teams. 

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate, liaise and work with people at all levels, both internal and external to the University with tact, maturity and appreciation of sensitive issues.
  • Extensive experience in a high level administrative role, which required high level creative planning and management functions.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, in particular MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data management systems and database applications.
  • Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem- solving skills, including the ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies, strategies and procedures within a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial administration.
  • Excellent written communication skills – including the ability to research; prepare reports, policy documents presentations and to take accurate minutes.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, along with the ability to prioritise activities, manage competing priorities respond to ad hoc and time critical requests while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor degree with extensive relevant executive administration experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
