Background:
ZSVP (Zakho Small Villages Projects) as a local NGO, Non-profit established in 1991, is interested on community development to promote the ability of vulnerable groups of rural communities and help them for fair sustainable life.
In 1991, after the First Gulf War, ZSVP took part in the relief efforts for the refugees and internally displaced people and in reconstructing of infrastructure of rural areas of Dohuk governorate through rebuilding (shelters, water projects, schools, clinics, irrigation channels, and roads) to enable people to return back to their v illages and start their life. After the UN resolution 1996, ZSVP moved away from relief oriented approach to a more developmental approach. Since 1998, ZSVP has disseminated environmental information and conducted workshops and training courses for diffusing sustainable agriculture methods and environmentally sound technologies, integrated pest management techniques, nutrition methods water and environmental health care to various groups’ (farmers, rural women, extension agents, students and NGOs).
ZSVP is looking for a Mobilizer :
JOB TITLE: Mobilizer
PROJECT TITLE: Promoting Socio-Economic Reintegration in Ninawa and Duhok Governorates, Iraq
WORKING HOURS: Full Time (8:00AM – 16:00)
LOCATION:
- 1 Mobilizer based in Duhok (with regular visits to all Ninawa Districts)
- 1 Mobilizers based in Ninawa
NUMBER OF JOBS: 2 Mobilizers
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Project Manager
Background
The project focuses on promoting socio-economic reintegration of vulnerable individuals, including returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities, in Ninawa and Duhok Governorates. It aims to foster resilience, enhance livelihoods, and build social cohesion through tailored interventions such as skills training, income-generating activities, and psychosocial support.
Job Purpose
The Mobilizer will play a pivotal role in engaging with local communities, raising awareness about the project, facilitating community participation, and ensuring smooth implementation of project activities. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as a deep understanding of the local context and community dynamics.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in community mobilization, preferably within an NGO context.
- Prior experience working with displaced populations, returnees, or vulnerable groups is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships and facilitate community engagement.
- Understanding of the socio-economic and cultural dynamics in Ninawa and Duhok Governorates.
- Fluency in Arabic and/or Kurdish; knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
