Mountain Campus Seasonal Staff

The Catamount Institute is hiring enthusiastic, responsible seasonal staff to help lead our nature-based summer day camps for children ages 5–12. Camps are hosted at our stunning Mountain Campus, perched at nearly 10,000 feet in the montane forest near Woodland Park, CO. Primary Responsibilities

• Co-lead a safe, inclusive, and engaging outdoor camp experience
• Facilitate Catamount Instutute lessons, lead hikes, support experiments, crafts, and games
• Supervise campers and ensure their safety and well-being
• Model environmental stewardship and teach Leave No Trace principles
• Participate in staff planning meetings and assist with setup and cleanup
• Communicate clearly with campers, staff, and families

Compensation & Logistics

• Pay: $19/hour
• Must have housing in the Colorado Springs/Woodland Park area
• Staff provide their own lunch and snacks
• Must be available to work from May 27 – August 8
  (Weekends and June 30–July 4 are off)

Qualifications: Education & Experience

• College junior, senior, or bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience working with youth in the outdoors (volunteer, staff, or professional capacity)
• Background in science, history, or recreation is helpful but not required
• Teaching license, degree, or certification is a plus but not required

Outdoor Skills & Comfort

• Comfortable living and working outdoors—including tent camping and hiking over rugged terrain
• Energetic, dedicated, and excited to be involved in all aspects of the program
• Preference given to applicants with advanced outdoor skills (e.g., backpacking, fishing, map and compass navigation)

Safety & Certifications

• Current First Aid and CPR certifications required
• Preference given to candidates with higher-level certifications (e.g., WFA, WFR, Wilderness EMT)
