  1. Role and responsibilities

The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong to the Work- and Professional Development Plan.

  1. Coordinate the education activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
  2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
  3. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities
  4. Break down the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
  5. Coordinate with relevant partners
  6. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures
  7. Supervise, train and develop team
  8. Prepare periodic progress reports, statistics and other documents as required
  9. Investigate and facilitate the introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities

Specific responsibilities 

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Supervise and manage the work of the team and report on their progresses of first line education response, non – formal education program and youth education program
  • Schedule and participate in training, implementation, running and follow-up of the project including monitoring and evaluation, teaching methodologies, market assessment, supervision and field missions.
  • Actively promote the Right to Education (including in emergencies) with an understanding of Protection and Child Protection principles.
  • Ensure that all administrative and logistical tasks are promptly and correctly completed.
  • Represent NRC in local and national meetings, when requested, and promote exchange of information with relevant external actors when required.
  • Ensure proper evaluation of all education activities.
  • Provide accurate and detailed progress reports in line with donor guidelines and NRC guidelines
  • Act as interpreter when required and translate documents as needed.
  • Undertake any other duties assigned by the Education Coordinator as and when required.

Generic professional competencies for this position: 

  • Experience from working as a Project Officer or similar position in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in local languages, English both written and verbal
  • Expect to abide by office rules, regulations and policies within NRC

Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):

  • Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university
  • Advanced English and IT knowledge
  • communication skills, adaptable and resourceful
  • Experience with managing budgets and staff
  • At least 3 years’ working experience in general management or in training program with international NGOs, UN agencies or related field area
  • Flexible, creative and co-operative
