To support our Secretary General, we are looking for a Policy Manager to join our headquarters in Cologne as soon as possible.
As Policy Manager, you will support the Secretary General of Malteser International and the implementation of the Sovereign Order of Malta (SOM) Relations topic in the context of MI’s current strategy process. You will strengthen the ownership of key SOM stakeholders and contacts gained through the SOM network and translate this ownership into funding, institutional collaboration and networking opportunities.
Your responsibilities:
- Manage relations with key stakeholders from the Sovereign Order of Malta (Major Donors, Member Associations and Grand Priories, Grand Magistry, Diplomats) in coordination with General Secretary and the second Policy Manager
- Support upstream management and reporting to key stakeholders (Board of Directors, SOM Grand Magistry, etc.) by prepraring reports and topcis for meetings of governance bodies and independently following up on results and decisions
- Help acquire new supporters for MI from within the SOM family of organizations and deepen collaboration with existing partners by developing new communication formats, hosting and planning visits to MI HQ, project locations, and Order of Malta partners
- Help coordinate the collaboration between MI and the Diplomatic Service of the Order of Malta to raise awareness and leverage support for MI’s activities by providing reports and briefings in support of diplomatic activities
- Support the Secretary General of MI in the management of special projects, stakeholder management activities (with focus on SOM network), and according to operational requirements in coordination with the second Policy Manager
Your profile:
- University degree in a relevant field with proven project management and fundraising expertise as well as networking skills
- Familiarity with the history, structure, internal workings of the Order of Malta as well as high level of identification with the Order of Malta and the Catholic Church
- Familiarity with international humanitarian aid and the current discourse in this field
- Experience of working in international diplomacy at a senior level (interaction with Chiefs of Mission)
- Command of digital communications techniques and familiarity with (digital) customer relationship management techniques
- High level of analytical, research and writing ability as well as self initiative and organisational skills
- Willingness for regular international duty travel
