Title: National Consultant Psychologist for Guyana – BLIC Project

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the BLIC National Coordinator, the Consultant will be responsible for:
Identify appropriate mental health services for gender-sensitive care:
– Refer selected mental health service providers to partner CSO for initial or refresher sensitization training (before beneficiary referrals where possible) to mitigate beneficiaries’ risk of exposure to transphobia.
– Contribute to the creation of a database of mental health services/service providers/professionals that are gender-sensitive and suitable for transgender women & gender diverse people.
Evaluate TransFormED beneficiaries and assist them with accessing mental health services:
– Participate in the selection of transgender women and gender diverse people for enrollment in TransFormED.
– Assess the mental health needs of each beneficiary.
– Develop individualized care plans, liaising with the project social worker where necessary.
– Provide ongoing counseling and support to beneficiaries throughout the project.
Refer TransFormED beneficiaries to suitable existing local (and where appropriate regional or international) mental health services and ensure follow-up:
– Facilitate referrals of project beneficiaries to appropriate mental health and related services whether within the project, with the partner CSO, or externally.
– Ensure that follow-up care and ongoing support are provided to beneficiaries accessing these services.
– Liaise with project social worker, partner CSO, local formal & informal transgender networks/organisations to host support group sessions and/or other appropriate group activities.
– Where necessary, liaise with project social worker to assist beneficiaries with accessing broader psychosocial support to address issues related to health, neurodiversity, learning/developmental challenges, discrimination, violence, self-acceptance, and so on.
Documentation and Reporting:
– Maintain accurate (but appropriately anonymized) records of services provided and prepare regular progress reports for UNDP.
