Open Future is looking for a project and research coordinator (32-36 hours per week) for our work on building a public repository of public domain and openly licensed work. For this project, we have teamed up with Liccium, the Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam, Europeana, and Wikimedia Sweden to jointly develop and test a prototype registry for rights information.

The project is highly interdisciplinary, combining legal research, technical development, data, and community management. The project and research coordinator will coordinate the overall project and ensure that the research on the feasibility study aligns with the implementation of the technical prototype. To this end, the project and research coordinator will closely work with the Director of Policy at Open Future and the project leads at all project partners.

The project and research coordinator will be responsible for:

  • overall project management, including liaisoning and reporting to the European Commission
  • coordinating the work on the feasibility study and ensuring that it aligns with the prototype development
  • ensuring that the prototype meets the needs of data partners (both internal and external)
  • presenting the project towards external stakeholders
  • coordinating the communication about the project

The ideal candidate will:

  • have at least 5 years of relevant experience in research project coordination, being able to operate independently on the basis of an existing project plan;
  • a solid understanding of copyright, ideally with practical experience in rights management information is a plus;
  • a solid understanding of software development processes and the ability to translate legal requirements into technical requirements is a plus;
  • have the ability to function in a remote working environment;
  • be based and able to work in the European Union, being based in the Netherlands is preferred (due to the composition of the consortium);
  • be fully fluent in English.

Application deadline: 24 November 2024

Please apply by sending your CV and motivation letter to work@openfuture.eu.
