Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.
The Project Manager is a key member of the ZSFG Vice Dean’s Office focused on increasing operational and administrative effectiveness. The Project Manager manages complex multiple-component ZSFG Vice Dean’s Office and campus-wide projects with minimal supervision to achieve desired organizational goals and benefits. Reporting to the Director of Administration for the UCSF at ZSFG Vice Dean’s Office, the Project Manager will work closely with a wide range of roles at both UCSF and ZSFG. One example of projects that the incumbent will manage include, but are not limited to the production support, enhancement management, governance and policy development around the Vice Dean’s Office database known as Hydra and the research protocol process. Other projects include leading and developing campus-wide staff engagement activities including supporting the ZSFG Net Promoter Score survey initiative.
The incumbent’s global duties include implementation and development of new initiatives/programs and processes, management, planning and execution of project/program objectives and milestones ensuring projects stays within scope, budget and timelines. The incumbent must exhibit the ability to perform in-depth analysis of data using different methods and techniques and effectively report project status and inform when escalations are needed. The Project Manager requires analytical skills and the ability to prepare reports from analysis performed for leadership and internal/external stakeholders. The incumbent should be able to use advanced problem solving operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues.
The Project Manager must be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines concurrently. The individual must be self-motivated and excellent at both verbal and written communication. Interactions require the use of tact and independent judgment, knowledge of standards and best practices, to resolve a wide range of operational and administrative compliance issues at UCSF at ZSFG, in regard to DPH regulatory policies.

Department Description
The School of Medicine Vice Dean’s Office at ZSFG supports the clinical, teaching and research activities of the UCSF faculty, residents, students and staff at ZSFG that are intended, in partnership with the administration of DPH, to support both missions of UCSF and ZSFG.
Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) has been a training hospital for UCSF since it opened in 1872. The Affiliation Agreement between the UCSF School of Medicine and the City/County of San Francisco includes providing all of the professional medical staff at ZSFG across approximately 40 different service lines. Currently, there are over 990 active and courtesy UCSF faculty working at ZSFG. UCSF also operates undergraduate and postgraduate medical training programs at ZSFG. More than 1400 UCSF residents and 350 medical students rotate at ZSFG each year. There are approximately 450 clinical staff and approximately 500 administrative and research staff based at ZSFG.
UCSF also manages approximately 200,000 sq. feet of assignable research and administrative space at ZSFG and is overseeing the approval and construction of a new UCSF research and academic facility at ZSFG. The research grants/contracts under the management of the Chiefs of Service at ZSFG exceeds $200 million each year in annual direct and indirect dollars.
