Senior Client Relations Officer

AIIB’s Investment Operations (IO) are composed of three Vice Presidencies, i.e., Investment Clients, Region 1 & Financial Institutions and Funds, Global, Vice Presidency (ICVP1), Investment Clients, Region 2 & Project and Corporate Finance, Global, Vice Presidency (ICVP2), and Investment Solutions, Vice Presidency (ISVP).

The Senior Client Relations Officer provides operational and coordination support to Vice President, Investment Clients, Region 2 & Project and Corporate Finance, Global (VPIC2), on all active and proposed work programs, business deliverables and team management, with a particular focus on client relations management with the Bank’s Region 2 (R2) members. The Senior Client Relations Officer will be assisting VPIC2 with establishing and maintaining high level engagement with the R2 members and business entities as well as financing partners under the leadership of the VPIC2, and liaise closely with Public Sector Clients Department, Region 2, Project and Corporate Finance Clients Department, Global, and the other relevant departments of the Bank including without limitation: the President’s office, the Corporate Secretariat, the Strategy, Policy and Budget Department, the Risk Management Department, the IO Departments in other IO Vice Presidencies and the others. This position reports to the VPIC2 and it is subordinate to the Senior Advisors of the VPIC2. The Senior Client Relations Officer supports the Vice President in all business agendas inside and outside the Bank.

Responsibilities:

• Help establishing the contacts and maintaining dialogs with the relevant authorities in the IO Region 2 members. Identify target markets clients for proactive engagement and high-level dialogue. Prepare a plan to effectively initiate, manage and grow relationships with these clients and ensure follow-up actions.

• Help to plan and prepare VPIC2 high level missions to the members of R2 operations and other external activities. Liaise with the authorities and coordinate agendas. Support the preparation of the relevant activities and documents, including presentations, meeting coordination, following up and back-to-office reporting, etc.

• Research, analyze and process information on the markets and the clients regarding their infrastructure needs and opportunities for infrastructure investment.

• Monitor and facilitate the internal process to ensure prompt and effective response to clients’ demands, enquiries and concerns. Follows up the investment operations leads under the supervision by the Front Office of the VPIC2 until the IO teams takes formal responsibility.

• Organize regular internal discussions in the Bank on issues related to client relations and programming.

• Act as an interface between the Front Office of the VPIC2 and IO Departments within ICVP2 as well as other departments in the Bank, allowing business development and client relations to run efficiently and operate with maximum integrity.

• Assist the Front Office of the VPIC2 and relevant stakeholders in developing and communicating business strategy and goals.

• Organize implementation of tasks and activities, manage, motivate, coach and evaluate the Junior Client Relationship colleagues in the Front Office of the VPIC2.

• Assist in hiring, contracting, managing and evaluating the Region and Country Liaison Officers and regular control their activities and work.

• Assist in preparing the budget for the VPIC2 and coordinate preparation of consolidation of the budget for the entire Vice Presidency.

• Support VPIC2 in maintaining high level contacts and dialogues on co-financing opportunities with international financial institutions and bilateral development agencies in client countries.

• Other assignments as needed.

Requirements:

• 15-20 years of experience in operational divisions of the finance institutions with special focus on the client relationships and coverage aspects of the front office work; experience in multilateral development banks is a plus.

• Solid understanding of investment operations and familiarity with relevant policies and procedures. Knowledge and experience in front office functionalities.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities required to build working relationships across teams; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate in a clear and succinct style.

• Self-starting, self-driven and proactive individual with initiative.

• Demonstrated experience, judgment, and leadership to execute multiple and diverse work programs.

• Ability to adapt and play different roles based on business needs to bridge resource/skills gaps and keep several tasks and initiatives moving forward;

• Quick wit and resilience; ability to work under pressure; be prepared to extensive, multi-week travel.

• Master’s degree or equivalent preferably in business administration, economics, or public administration.

• Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages, used in IO Region 2 will be an advantage.

Kindly note that AIIB’s IO Region 2 covers its members in East Asia, Europe and Central Asia, West Asia, North Africa, and South America, while IO Region 1 covers its members in Southeast Asia, Oceania, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Previous experience and qualifications will determine the employee level at which a successful applicant will enter AIIB.
