Main purpose of internship
Provide political monitoring and administrative support to the Political and the Climate, Nature and Energy Team at the British Consulate-General in São Paulo, particularly in relation to Brazilian politics and engagements at the state and municipal levels, as well as support for events and official visits.
We are looking for a dynamic candidate able to work from São Paulo while collaborating with two teams based across three different cities: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília. The role requires strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, advanced English proficiency (speaking, listening and reading skills), and strong interest for the climate and political work.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge on politics and climate change, analytical capacity, as well as interpersonal and communication skills, while engaging with the fast-paced dynamics of diplomatic life at the UK Mission in Brazil, playing an important role in advancing policy priorities and network objectives.
On the Political Team side, the intern will primarily support the monitoring and analysis of the 2026 elections and support stakeholder engagement activities. On the Climate side, the intern will support activities under the UK PACT programme and the green finance workstream, including support to reporting, events organisation and international missions.

Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate program at a Brazilian university throughout the duration of the internship and must have the legal status to live and work in Brazil at time of application.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.

Working patterns
This role is part-time at 30 hours per week. The British Consulate General operates on a 60-40 hybrid model, with staff being permitted to work from home up to two days per week. The intern may choose to work 9h – 15h or 13h – 19h, Monday – Friday.
Please note occasional out of hours work may be required (e.g. to support on events).
