The British Embassy in Cairo is looking to recruit a Visa Outreach Officer under the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), job grade Higher Executive Officer (HEO), on a fixed term contract of one (1) year.
The jobholder may be based in one of the following locations: Algiers, Cairo and Tunis. Applicants should only apply once to their preferred job location.
UK Visas and Immigration’s overseas Visa Outreach Officers have four key areas of responsibility, these are:
1. Representation and Stakeholders:
Visa Outreach Officers are responsible for promoting awareness and understanding of the UK’s visa offer, delivering regionally tailored customer and stakeholder communications, assisting with high-profile/value applications, and working with Government Partners (including FCDO, DIT, Visit Britain, and the British Council) to increase understanding of Visits, Study, and Investment visa offers. Visa Outreach Officers achieve this by:

Visa Outreach Officers are responsible for assuring the quality of the customer experience in Visa Application Centres (VACs), Secure English Language Testing Centres (SELTs), and TB clinics through visits, information from travel/education and PAG stakeholders, and formal audits as directed by the Regional Assurance and Integrity Manager. Visa Outreach Officers achieve this by:
3. Customer Insight and Innovation:
Visa Outreach Officers are responsible for collecting and reporting market insight and customer intelligence to UKVI teams, driving continuous improvement of the UK visa service and our customer offer, including identifying opportunities for change and innovation. Remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of USD 2,926 per month, subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations, based on a 36 hours per week.
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
We offer a competitive package including medical benefits, performance related bonus, recreational facilities, opportunities for job related training and development, etc. There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation nor relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
This role is for a full-time employment, on a fixed-term contract of one (1) year, subject to three (3) months’ probationary period. This role will involve frequent travel across the region and to the UK for business purposes. The successful candidate must be able to secure visas for these countries.
Please note that due to the operational requirements of the role, this is not suitable for part-time or job sharing.

Upon arrival into the position, you will go through a comprehensive Visa Outreach Officer onboarding process conducted by your mentor (a fellow Visa Outreach Officer in the region) and using resources in the Outreach Training Centre on UKVI’s Outreach Hub.
UKVI’s International Network encourages all staff to develop their capabilities, through both formal training (courses) and informal (job-shadowing, coaching, on-the-job training etc). The majority of our formal L&D opportunities are drawn from FCDO resources. All staff are encouraged to share their skills and experience with colleagues, through informal training (‘lunch & learn’) or coaching/mentoring.

Process:
The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around 2-3 months. The security clearance process includes checks available in country and with UK, dependant on the security level required for the role and the candidate’s profile and UK footprint. You may experience some delay in the progress of this recruitment campaign, and we are working hard to minimise any disruption.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful at interview may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of six (6) months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.
The start date mentioned in the job advert is a tentative start date and the successful candidate will be required to undergo security-vetting procedures. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances.
