Main purpose of job:
The Estates Section is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee and coordinate electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs in various BHC properties. This role ensures compliance with safety standards, maintains operational efficiency, and leads a team of electricians and contractors. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Country Based Staff (CBS) team within our diplomatic mission, managing day-to-day electrical operations across the BHC compound and nearby leased properties

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
The incumbent will carry out duties as per the following main categories:
Supervision and Leadership: (20%)
- Manage and oversee a team of electricians and contractors to ensure quality of work, planned preventive maintenance, and proper documentation (logbooks, service reports, etc).
- Delegate tasks to electricians and contractors according to the scope of work and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Train electricians by demonstrating good practices and monitor team performance to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Planning and Execution: (15%)
- Plan minor electrical projects and day-to-day maintenance works, including installations, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Prepare scope of work and manage low value contracts.
- Coordinate with various original equipment manufacturer (OEM) contractors, other trade teams, departments, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and scope of work.
Inspection and Quality Assurance:(20%)
- Inspect electrical systems, including 11 KV high voltage transformers, generators, and LV control panels, identify faults, and resolve issues in compliance with local and international safety standards.
- Evaluate electrical installation compliance reports for owned and leased properties to ensure functionality and safety.
- Address and resolve non-compliance issues or malfunctions in electrical systems.
Safety and Compliance:(15%)
- Enforce FCDO compliance for required electrical codes, safety regulations, and electrical standards.
- Ensure the team uses proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows safety protocols.
- Conduct safety audits when required, toolbox talks, and prepare reports.
Inventories and Documentation:(10%)
- Maintain records of electrical equipment inventories, statutory assets, electrical inspection compliance reports (EICR), and portable appliance test records in both soft and hard copies.
- Select required electrical spares, tools, and equipment according to FCDO requirements and international guidelines to plan procurement.
- Prepare and submit reports on progress of minor project, challenges, and snags.
Trouble shooting and Problem Solving:(10%)
- Diagnose electrical issues and provide cost-effective solutions within service level agreements.
- Collaborate with the Electrical Manager and technical staff to resolve complex problems.
Interaction with Government Departments:(5%)
- Supervise and liaise with NDMC and BSES for electrical issues.
- Understand and supervise the requirements for diplomatic and commercial events in the BHC compound and HC residence.
Miscellaneous work:(5%)
- Manage any other works given by Line Manager.

Essential on arrival:
- Candidates should possess a qualification with ITI in Electrical with 15 years relevant experience OR three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering along with 10 years of experience of relevant trade.
- Proficiency in electrical works, including house wiring and strong fault-finding skills related to electrical equipment.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and single-line diagrams.
- Good communication skills in English and Hindi, with the ability to understand English spoken by native speakers and communicate clearly with clients in English and team members in Hindi, if required.
- A good understanding of operating earthing systems, diesel generators, 11KV transformers, LT switchgear, supply changeover panels, earth leakage protection devices, lightning protection systems, and household electrical installations as per UK standards.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality work in installations, maintenance, and testing.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently, particularly in time-sensitive or complex situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with other departments or contractors for project execution.
- Adaptability to handle multiple tasks and changing work requirements, including emergency and unplanned projects.
- Experience in supervising teams, managing quality of work, and meeting service level agreements (SLAs).

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC Candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 39,789 per month plus 12% Provident Fund and 6% Superannuation.
Additionally, the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family which includes self, spouse/partner and children up to an age of 23 years and irrespective of age, only if with, physical or mental disability.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided. FCDO does not pay for any travelling, accommodation & relocation expenses incurred and/or accept any financial risk, including cancellation or reschedule costs
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
