Main purpose of job:
To enhance practical skills by engaging in a comprehensive, hands-on work and learning experience that builds proficiency across a range of core handyman tasks, including carpentry, basic electrical and plumbing work, and general maintenance, ensuring well-rounded capability in areas directly relevant to career path whilst ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Roles and responsibilities:
The Handyman will work under supervision to:
- Address general maintenance requests, including plumbing, painting, minor electrical repairs, and locksmithing.
- Install fixtures, fire blankets, and smoke detectors during property preparations
- Accompany team members for property evaluations and assist with caryying out safety checks.
- Wider Health & Safety support to grant Estates team operations are complying.
- Assist in moves, including furniture protection and safe lifting moving activities.Assist with overseeing contractor works and ensure tasks meet BHC standards.
- Proactively identify maintenance needs and report them promptly

Essential on arrvial:
- Completion of secondary education or vocational training in building maintenance, construction, or a related field.
- Ability to work in teams

Working hours:
Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 16:30, Friday 08:00 – 13:00
Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.
